Flash Mob (From Wikipedia)
日期:2008-05-09 | 分类:Fresh Air
The first flash mob
The first flash mob was organized in Manhattan in May 2003, by Bill Wasik, senior editor of Harper's Magazine. The origins of the flash mobs were unknown until Wasik published an article about his creation in the March 2006 edition of Harper's. The first attempt was unsuccessful after the targeted retail store was tipped off about the plan for people to gather.Wasik avoided such problems during the second flash mob, which occurred in June 3, 2003 at Macy's department store, by sending participants to preliminary staging areas—in four prearranged Manhattan bars—where they received further instructions about the ultimate event and location just before the event began.
More than one hundred people converged upon the ninth floor rug department of the store, gathering around an expensive rug. Anyone approached by a sales assistant was advised to say that the gatherers lived together in a warehouse on the outskirts of New York, that they were shopping for a "love rug", and that they made all their purchase decisions as a group.
Subsequently, 200 people flooded the lobby and mezzanine of the Hyatt hotel in synchronized applause for about fifteen seconds, and a shoe boutique in SoHo was invaded by participants pretending to be tourists on a bus trip.
Wasik claimed that he created flash mobs as a social experiment designed to poke fun at hipsters and to highlight the cultural atmosphere of conformity and of wanting to be an insider or part of "the next big thing."
Literary precedents
In 1973, the story Flash Crowd by Larry Niven described a concept vaguely similar to flash mobs. It described how, with the invention of popular teleportation, an argument at a shopping mall, which happened to be covered by a news crew, swells into a riot. The broadcast coverage attracted the attention of other people, who use the widely available technology of the teleportation booth to swarm first that event — thus intensifying the riot — and then other events as they happened. In actuality, flash crowds are used to start up and heighten riots. When a riot begins and is televised, others join in, resulting in the participation of millions of people. Commenting on the social impact of such mobs, one character in Niven's story, articulating the police view, says, "We call them flash crowds, and we watch for them."

Assessment and Evaluation of Overseas Financing of New Oriental Education and Technology Group
Chen Weijie
College of Economics and management, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, China
Abstract: Currently, education, one of public products, has been widespread industrialized and capitalized, which is the essential supplement of national educational system as well as consequence of keen desire for educational resources. Global educational market has stepped into a new era of expansion. Chinese potential educational industry market share has skyrocketed to 300 billion and whole national potential educational share 2 trillion. Torrential capital, from QFII and venture capital, are flowing into Chinese educational industry continuously. When facing pressure from shareholders and homogeneous competition, Chinese education industry incurs some inherent problem in financial structure and management which arouses the desire of exploration in us and requests us to find solutions. This article mainly exemplifies New Oriental Group’s overseas financing in order to study its motive, mode of being listed overseas, and analyses the financial report at last. The author has worked part-time in New Oriental in around one year, thus it is easier to notice the problems perceptually. And rough solutions have been mapped out also after elaborate analysis.
Key words: Educational Industry; New Oriental; Ownership structure; Listed overseas

Here pastes more pictures taken from Southwest University.
Four years passed as winds, yet do I realise how little impression it imposed on me. It is unwise to try any effort to invest any significance with these images, which demonstrate only images, nor should we waste any time to illustrate the backdrop. Memory or beauty in terms of earthly meanings is meaningless.

Dream University of Lifetime--Chapter Four § Ranking §
日期:2008-04-11 | 分类:Meditation Cafe
'The World University Rankings' published by the Times Higher Education said 'The very top institutions may all be in the English-speaking world, but the top 200 hundred spread across 28 nations.'
I am going to illustrate the ranking elaborately by employing data and tables, which sounds maniac and meaningless to sophisticated fellows and elders. But I don't care, nor shall I want.
Top 10 universities are below:
The same as always Harvard maintains second to none. However, the second place was taken by Cambirdge, Oxford and Yale simutaneously. To my surprise, UK almost draws with US within Top 10 by taking 4 entries. No wonder THE(Times Higher Education) reviewed the current top rankings as English-speaking world's kindom.
Netherlands is undoubtedly where my attention shall focus on, but to my dissappointment, Utrecht University only listed on 89th.

Even Fudan University held 4 postions ahead. The first place in NL is University of Amsterdam at 48. China has 6 entrants: Peking, Tsinghua, Fudan, Nanjing, Sci&Tech, Jiao Tong with highest 39 and lowest 163. A great progress actually.
Let 's take another look at another different Ranking published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This one is totally different from the former, which confused us greatly. We can only attribute the uncompatability to culture and education-assessement.
As we can see, America overwhelmingly defeated any other countries with 8 universities in Top 10. Superpower excels both in education and economy, state-own univerisities have access to huge research fund which comes from tax base. Namely, the richer the nation is, the more cash they can grant. Eventually and essentially, the competion between universities reflects the prosperity behind.
Fortunately, Utrecht University held the toppest position in NL and 7th in Europe this ranking;
Hopefully, I can imagine the bright future in Utrecht University.
God grants me an precious opportunity, and I will return a miracle. In UK, the glamorous Oxbridge always appeals to me.

Dalai's delusion
日期:2008-04-10 | 分类:Meditation Cafe
I was very sorry and astonised by watching the whole catastrophe through internet the week before. The mob in Lhasa is no more than a gang of degenerated gangsters which shows no mercy to innocent beings. We formally condemn their unforgivable and vicious crime, and no punishment will be enough for their sin.
Dalai's delusion simply means his malicious plan which can never be realised. Delusion represents the weak's moan and is strongly against Buddism principle. Tibet is a sacred place which is believed to have close connection with Buddas. What has been done on this shrine shall never be acknowlegded as the 'way of Buddism'.
We firmly support our goverment and country no matter what happens.

All lives are sacrificed for a so-call faith—war-annihilating—whose deep meaning still eludes me from the beginning. How can we live without a faith? But a faith can be a bondage that puts wool over our eyes, blinds us from the truth.
What we can do is merely to shout in the dark side of world till the dawn enlightens us or the death engulfs us. Because we believe that Truth never dies, veritas numquam perit.
Farewell, amigos. -

When I received the letter of conditional acceptance from
Utrecht University, I became conscious of everything that I had been through. A little dream had come true after great effort. I will probably choose Utrecht rather than Tilburg as my next stop, for the reason of not-willing-to be a scholar with thick glasses. More details, please read words below. I am about to use this entry to illustrate the programme of International Economics and Business of Utrecht University which might reminds me of courses that I would take in the near future. In this case, I could preview the text I can buy or download in order to bridge the gap between two educational system.
First things first, I will give an intro to this major.

Duration is only one year, I can assume it heavily-intensive course. Tuition fee, 8500 euro,is probably the most inexpensive among First Class Ranking University in Europe. The programme consists of three specialisation tracks: International Managerial Economics(IME); International Financial and Economic Relations(IFER); International Entrepeneurship(IE). I have to admit that my admission is, to a great extent, based on my luck, thus I know myself. IME is not my cup of tea, and IE is a programme which has room for 20 students who will be studying their 3th period in Lund University in Sweden which is said be the largest university in Scandinavia. I can tell that I am not an excellent students to win the IE programme. I can only hope. So here, I paste two pics which demostrates the curriculum both from IFER&IM.
IFER, it is.
IE, it is.From tables above, we can see the difference of 2 tracks, however, they still have something in common, mainly in period 1 and 2. After all, IE is worth trying which grants me another chance to another exotic country.
Here are some pics of Utrecht University, these pics are from Google Photo Search. Thanks a million for those friends who upload these pics.

The photo of ground shows the 'Motto of Utrecht University'——The Sun of Justice enlightens Us, which moves me deeply and thoroughly. And the other is, I guess, front gate.

The upper one is said be its main teaching building, very traditional.
However, the lower one is its International Students Hostel, perhaps that'll be my dorm when I get there.

Where&what is this hall? I cannot even tell whether it is day or night ,inside or outside only by judging the picture. I think it may be a dining-hall.

I suppose that it is main Cathedral in Campus. May God be with us. I trust in God.

My music box

This evening I put a Music Box at the lower-left corner which was a totally agony. It wasted me at least two hours to fix it right, eventually, I employed two songs from Gundum00 as my background music. If you guy are using Firefox to browse my page, you can never hear the music, which , I guess, is a little trick of music box service agency. You folks better try a browser with great compatabilty. IE is wonderful choice but considering easy access to viruses I insist on Firefox or Maxthon.

Friends--フレンズ--世界を変える
日期:2008-03-24 | 分类:Fresh Air
This story had impacted on generation from generation. Gundam, which is merely an anime, has been thriving since 70s. I only watch one series--Gundam00, thus I cannot illustrate former masterpieces through my plain words. After watching the Episode 24, I felt necessary to convey my personal feelings and demostrate the legend. If you prefer a Japanese version, please click.
After three centuries, the resources run out, and a new research for everlasting solar energy has come to history. However, only superpower have an access to the eternal Godsend. Therfore, it is doomed that war will happen inevitalby which slaughters thousands of lives without any mercy.
Three superpower-Union, AEU, HRU-fight for their own interests without considering other small countries. The world is changing, maybe some day, to an endless graveyard. At last a thread of hope has come our sight, a private armed force, which is named 'Celetial Being' and established by Aeolia Schenberg(イオリア・シュヘンベルグ) who freezes his body to see the victory he planned two hundred years ago, is organised to annihilate confilcts and wars.
Celetial being's prinsiple is to eradicate all conflicts by force. Paradox, it appears to be. Wage an another more furious war to bring an end to the current one. But, when all voices of peace have been heard as an impotent moan, when mankind's lives have been sentenced to an unwillingly sudden death, how can a hopeless and endless approach to so-called peace would work. At present, violence is the irreplaceable way to success.
The force from CB are four mobile suit:EXIA,DYNAMES,KYRIOS,VIRTUE. Initially, their overwhelming assault massively destruct enemy's bases, weapons and even confidence for their GN-Drive(solar enery system) has extremely superiority to average human force in speed, reaction and defense.
However,CB doesn't enjoy the overwhelming defeat too long before the secret data from Veda(Super computer system of CB,Indian word, means truth or knowledge). Enemy deeply analyse the high-tech GN-Drive, and duplicate CB's product and create their own high-quality Mobile Suit with red GN particle. Indeed, CB has been through a tough time after enemy's force improving not until Trans-am system being activated. Trans-am system makes Gundam faster, stronger. I estimate that no MS could beat Trans-am in a one-on-one fight.
Last night, a final battle began, Lockon(Gundam Meister of Dynames) had lost his life. Virtue was totally distroyed, Kyrios suffered from mentally distortation which made him mad. Only Setsuna F Seiei survived. An end awaits CB or a new era awaits CB, that is a question.

For High School Students II--We are Chinese
日期:2008-03-22 | 分类:New Oriental related
Currently, we Chinese are facing up a series of provocation from both Western countries and demestic minority. Considering malicious challenges annoy us continuously, we should do something to express our firm support to country and government as it is our inevitable duty. But my question is what would we do and what are we able to do for our motherland. Now, I can partially understand that why Luxun had been through a long period of tough days without doing anything specific but merely writing some abstruse articles, because he was unable to do anything no matter how furious his heart is.
However, things changed. A new era enlightens a new generation, let this voice be heard: We Are Not A Afraid!
Please write down your thought here, let our thought be propagated widely and deeply.
Cheers.

Dream University of Lifetime--Chapter Two § In retrospect §
日期:2008-03-21 | 分类:Meditation Cafe
About two and half years ago, I who was standing on the boundary of 'Soph' and 'More' was formulating my blueprint of Overseas Study. Unfortunately, I felt tremendous depression because of this uncertain dream which buded in a field of thought-infertility where no one seems has seeded for a hundred years.
Sadly,Hatred and Arrogance get in the way of geting the most of my life. If instead I could embrace the inner dark side and face up the reality, I can redeem and transform it. However, things remained. I exaggerated the negative aspects that I had been through and fail to notice the achievement that I accumulated unconsciously.
I didn't find a way to enrich and enbroad my life until I was enrolled in NOS. I sincerely express my gratitude to the one who gave me the opportunity that I had been seeking for a long time.

Dream University of Lifetime--Chapter One § This is miracle §
日期:2008-03-15 | 分类:Meditation Cafe
Last week, out of my expection, Universiteit van Tilburg
sent me a Declaration of Admission in Internation Business.
And more surprisely, they granted me an exemption of GMAT score. I felt
a bit confused instead of delight after tortured by massive desperation
before. Here is the email they sent to my overseas service agency:Dear Cherry:
We have assessed the application of Chen, Weijie for the MSc programme in International Business.
Before we informed you about the fact that his application package was not complete, because he did not send in a GMAT test score. However, since he is studying at a recognised university (Project 211) and his grades are above average, we decided to make an exception for him. We do this for a limited number of students and we will inform you if more of your students are selected to be an exception.
On behalf of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration's Admissions Commission, we are pleased to inform you that Chen, Weijie has been conditionally admitted for the academic year 2008-2009. Congratulations!
His condition will be definite after we receivea certified copy of his Bachelor diploma, a certified copy of his degree certificate and his certified transcripts, after his graduation in July 2008.
You will receive the Conditional Admission Letter of Tilburg University including his administration number as soon as possible. Along with the Conditional Admission Letter you will also receive our information brochures about the Welcome Week and studying in Tilburg so you can give these to Chen, Weijie.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,

Faculty of Economics and Business AdministrationI need to say something about my university, dream Universities. Let us begin the story.
Chapter One § This is miracle §
'This is miracle', when I receive the call from the Adviser from Service Agency at 10 A.M. in the mornning , I was partly awake--I never get used to get up early. I sat for a while with a mess mind, not because too exhilarated but indeed sleepy. After a washing-up, I get back to myself. I know it is time to plan the future and trace back the entire anguished process(Which I will illustrate in Chapter Two).
Nearly one month ago, Adviser told me, a GMAT score is required otherwise they wouldn't take my application into consideration. What a terrible news! From the beginning, I didn't regard Tilburg University as the First Ranking University. However, receiving a Pre-M.Sc. or Rejection Letter is obviously not like a lucky lottery to easily accept. If I hand over a true copy of GMAT score, I would be possibly granted into IB directly, if not, who knows. One month later, a dramatical change came. They gave me a conditional admission which requires my degree, diploma and transcript to acquire the unconditional admission. Yes, sounds complicated. Not to mention the elaborate 'pre-process' which brought me endless anger and suffering...

Merely three decades, VERSACE has achieved recognition of leading international fashion houses in the domain of Italian Luxury.
Within the sphere of luxury, VERSACE has constantly positioned couture line at the very top. From the very commencement, the creative universe of Gianni Versace has always encompassed many disciplines, not just fashion, but design in the broadest sense and the essential art of living were transformed by his great passion for all forms the arts: theatre, dance, painting and sculpture.

'The Future Will Be Whatever We Make It'

'The future cannot be awaited, it can only be made.'
Baffled to most folks, this article was entitled by such a 'cliche'- a slogan from Jack&Jones.
I searched for its website-http://www.jackjones.com/-by inputting 'Jack Jones' onto Google.
Then I came across an entry for a jazz musician from America out of the blue, whose name is precisely Jack Jones.(I even mistook him for the original designer before reading the profile)
I am not such a demanding person on clothing, considering limited monthly income.
Hence J&J is a proper choice with a reasonable price.
To a certain extent, I don't think J&J is chic or elegant, probably as its brand line is mainly casual wear. It appears that a brand can never be of great elegance without coming up with a VERSACE way. Bias-definately, but traditionally.
Confused, I found a number of countries from Austria to UK(even Jordan, on the list of local stores but China. The only explanation might be Franchise.
Too late now ,I'd better stop. Not sleepy but lazy.

I love money.
Admitting this makes no one chic and cancels entrance to heaven instantly, instead bracket yourself as some sort of Wannabe Wag.
Some might say wanting money is vulgar, and nothing, indeed, is intrinsically filthy about lucre.
People who love money are vacuous and coarse-wicked,even.
I am sure that every wise man from Socrates to Confucius had said something along the lines of money being the root of all evil, but it is still the metaphorical and desirable oil that keeps our world turning.
